Does anyone know what permission levels are required to allow a user to create content but not approve it?
I’ve just spent the afternoon trying this and am more confused than when I started. For instance…
If I add a user into the Designer site permission group I can create pages – excellent, just as I would expect.
If I create a new site permissions level - let’s call it ‘customer-designer’ - by copying the Designer site permission level and then assign this ‘customer-designer’ level to a new site permission group. I then add my user into the new group and… I cannot create pages, even though the new group is based on permissions that have been directly copied from a permission set that does allow page creation
Does this make any sense? Can anyone help me to understand it?
The issue seems to lie somewhere when the new group is created. For example if I create a new group called ‘customer-designers’ and assign it the Design permission level I still cannot create a page in the pages library.
Could someone try this for me – to see if it’s a problem on my machine or some weird behavior from Sharepoint?
I would go into the permission levels and validate what is selected for your "Custom-Designer" level.
You specifically want to make sure that "Add and Customize Pages" is included and "Approve Items" it not included.
Also, since you do not want them approving items, you may need to define an approver group unless it is something the Site Owners are responsible for doing.
Ensure that the group-permissionlevel assignment is applied to the rootweb. Also ensure the childwebs on which you are testing do not have unique permissions.
is the customer specific file swap. My customer could create a new site for each of her customers, which would take care of almost everything, except that when she creates the new site, she'll need... be overridden automatically (unless I can do it through SPD?). And my final option is to create a doc library for each customer. The issue here is when a customer logs in, how can I display a web part for only the doc lib they have access to, and not the other customer's webparts? If I put them all on the home page, the user will get a message stating they don't have permissions to view the data
possible. Can anyone tell me what I may have misconfigured or need to change? Update I've worked with the problem a little more. If I just create a survey with one question using only a yes... they try to submit their answers they still received the Access Denied error. I have tried sending an access request from a test user (as prompted by the error page), but I still received the same error after granting access. I have also tried inherited and non-inherited permissions for the page, but nothing seems to be working. The thing that leads me to believe that this is a permissions issue
the user who is creating (creator) and saving the InfoPath form. I've also created a secondary workflow to manage reminders and escalations. In this case, the creator needs to be part of the site collection owners group for the workflow to complete successfully. This poses a permission issue since I am setting item level permission and granting Read permission to the creator once the form... the user who is part of site collection owner to trigger the work or any other work around to resolve this permission issue?

Users in the Members group can create and edit pages, and they can upload images and documents, but they cannot publish the pages, images...I am using SharePoint 2007 Server x64 on Windows Server 2008 x64. I create a new SharePoint web application with a new site collection at the root of the web application. I select the template "publishing portal" for the site collection. I have also enabled anonymous access. Now the basic function is fine, except that I do not know how to change the first front page (i.e. the page showed to end
name and site owner could be added in second step. For me it is more logical to have just information pulled from site Site/sub-site URL, NT\login of user and permission level (contribute, read, …) So... sites/sub-site and permission level. My question is: Is this possible? Another question: Is there any method how to get this information without installing anything on server side of SharePoint farm? I... to Djuggler’s temporary grid and start loading values from columns to variables First it loads URL to Members group and rest of columns except URL to Visitors group and uses its internal browser to load page
I've changed the master page on a publish site collection. When I browsed back to the start site to check the new master page the browser just returned a 404 error, telling me that the page could not be found. But when I open the site collection with the SharePoint Designer very thing seems to be ok and in its place. All pages are as expected in the page library. Within the Designer I could even open the pages for editing. So does anyone has an idea why the browser cannot find and open the pages? UPDTAE To clarify my problem I should say, that also switching back to the default master
, it can't be John's permissions, because John is able to fire the workflow successfully (when working from some workstations). And Jane can do the workflow from anywhere, so the W2 workstation itself is configured to allow the workflows to be initiated. I cannot seem to find any aspect of SP groups or users or permissions which would affect a user's ability to initiate workflow from one..., one of which has Contribute permissions. I have 2 workstations, lets call them W1 and W2. Both are on the local area network and connect to the SP site via Internet Explorer 7 via http://example
items. Does anyone have any ideas as to how I could accomplish this, either via CQWP or by different means? Goals/Requirements of Installation Allow Intranet documents to be maintained..., but these are the requirements I have been given for the project. NOTE2: It's also entirely possible that I am going about this the entirely wrong way (I'm new to SharePoint). If anyone could point me in the right... have 11 pages of document links, each with its own subheadings. to add roles and user to the site that can then be subsequently used to log in via an FBA configured Url. When I add in a Role or User it should become underlined in the people picker dialog of the add... way and working correctly, I just can’t seem to get this site or any newly created sites to work as expected. I’ve checked and rechecked my web.config entries, I’ve even pasted the entire web.config file from a site that works correctly into a problem site but I still can’t get the user or role to resolve.
