Connection Framework with .Net assembly connector

  • Connection Framework with .Net assembly connector bmm6o

I am working on replacing our protocol handler with a Connection Framework component, so that SharePoint will crawl our data source. I think I understand the big picture, but I'm missing a lot of the details. I've read the documentation starting at http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ee556429%28office.14%29.aspx. I currently have a working BDC assembly; I know it works because I can make an external content type list from it.

I am currently stuck on step three: "Use Microsoft SharePoint Designer to discover the DLL and create a model". I don't see where to do this at all. Under "Data Sources"? Can I use my BDC assembly for this, or do I have to create another assembly?

  • There's a really good tutorial here and here.

  • for the "new" data that was relocated to another content database. This is a big problem for us as part of our system architecture is to "archive" finished site collections to archive content databases...In line with Microsoft's recommendation to keep content databases on SharePoint 2007 under 100Gb, we often move site collections to different content databases to balance the load. However, we have... to be re-crawled in its new content database? We don't want to do a full crawl as the last one we did took more than eight days and in any case we would still have the same problem after the full crawl

  • I've been reading that SharePoint 2010 does not support Windows Workflow Foundation 4.0 (WF4). Is it true??? If yes, does that mean we cannot design WF4 workflows in VS2010 and use them in SP2010? Or is it feasible? Will it be supported in a SharePoint service pack?

  • All the SharePoint applications I work on use resource files to allow localisation and sitemap files to integrate with breadcrumbs. It has always been a problem to deploy and process these files... know there are a number of ways around this in SharePoint 2007, which involve basically writing your own implementation of ApplyApplicationContentToLocalServer, but I had hoped that in SharePoint 2010 this obvious flaw would have been fixed. Unfortunately the code still checks if the current user is local administrator (I used reflector on the SP2010 Microsoft.SharePoint.dll file
