I've got 889 groups in People and Groups that I would like to delete. The normal way I can delete one group is:
What is the best way to accomplish this? A free third party client based tool would be acceptable or a web services api call if no other way exists.
You can use my jQuery Library for SharePoint Web Services to call the Users and Groups Web Service operation RemoveGroup. It's not clear where you have the list of 899 groups (or if you do), but if it's in a spreadsheet, make it a SharePoint list and then loop through the items with GetListItems.
You can also do this via PowerShell if that is deployed.
One of the functionalities advertised for Office 2010 was that "People can access document templates stored in SharePoint 2010 via the New Document Wizard in Microsoft Office applications" (see page 26 in the PDF "Business Productivity at Its Best: Office 2010 and SharePoint 2010). However, I can't find a way to set this in Office 2010 applications. I've looked at Workgroup Templates (Word... -> Backstory -> Options -> Trust Center -> Trust Center Settings... -> Trusted Locations -> Add new locations...) - "security reasons" disallow it. Would this need to be set through the Group Policies
, it can't be John's permissions, because John is able to fire the workflow successfully (when working from some workstations). And Jane can do the workflow from anywhere, so the W2 workstation itself is configured to allow the workflows to be initiated. I cannot seem to find any aspect of SP groups or users or permissions which would affect a user's ability to initiate workflow from one... in another list based on a lookup. I have two users, call them Jane and John. Jane is a member of several SP groups, one of which has Full Control permissions. John is a member of a couple of SP groups
I am using the WSS wiki, and as it's getting bigger I could really do with organising the pages better. Is there a good way to categorise wiki pages into groups/categories, or even to tag them? I am able to add the 'Category' or 'Categories' columns to the wiki list (not sure what the difference is between the two...), but there's no real lookup there, they're just single lines of text. It would be nice if there was then a way to filter and search based on multiple categories, or just to click on a category link and see all pages within that category.
is causing this behavior? I can change the code to avoid it if I can figure out why it is happening. Is there any way through the SharePoint UI or APIs to "release" the document so that the original.... Note that this is just opening the Excel file without checking it out. Problem: Once in a while, and for no reason I can figure out, a user will click the button and the spreadsheet will be returned... into it. Either way, it then opens the file in Excel. The code to open the file is some client-side script that figures out the location of the Excel file in SharePoint, sets an href variable to that URL
after it's created. would have to put .webpart-code in both a .webpart-file as well as in elements.xml (I want it to be stand alone as well as set by default). And making a mess in my elements.xml. Web...How can I set a web part so it will be automatically appended to a web part zone when a specific page layout is selected? The solutions I have tried so far is: Using <ZoneTemplate> under <WebPartZone> and putting my webpart in there Adding .webpart-code directly into <AllUsersWebPart> where I define the page layout, in elements.xml Put the web part on the page layouts
-scope is only within the web part NOT the full page. Also, I do not want to use any AJAX-controls. Update: I was told that the only way to get rid of "Webpage has expired" error is either by: Using... then navigate to any other page, and then click BACK or FORWARD I get an error message that says "Webpage has expired". Note that my web.config entry is: <httpRuntime executionTimeout="43200" maxRequestLength="104856" /> After searching I found https://stackoverflow.com/questions/1580085/show-webpage-has-expired-on-back-button. Well, obviously I can’t use GET because I am developing a web
where sties and/or subsites are created for collaboration. The goal is to removed unused .stp files. We do not deploy templates through solutions :( My questions as follows: 1.) Is there a way to see a complete inventory of sites and the template it uses without much code. Would love to do this from the UI. This can give an idea of sites we can safely delete. 2.) I am under assumption that we can delete the stp as required and current sites based off the deleted template will still be intact? I just don't want current sites to be impacted. 3.) Lastly, Outside as deploying templates
Scenario: User has 'Contribute' rights on a List. User creates a new ListItem on this List. User should only be able to edit or delete his own ListItems. How can I define that only the Owner (Created By) should be able to edit or delete this ListItem ? I was thinking about using an xslt if-statement with: ddwrt:IfHasRights(...) 'Created By' == 'Current User' Is this correct ? Or are there easier ways to do this ? See this page for a complete overview from all Rights.
it to the default.aspx home page. I would be happy either way. Note: I want to be able to activate this on existing site, I dont want to create a new Site Definition. Here is what I have tried: Feature Receiver...), then there doesn't seem to be a way to just get a reference to the page, it always wants to overwrite it with a new file. But I dont want to do that, I just want to add a Web Part to the existing page. See my..., the only Neat way I can see through it is some sort of "Configuration" page, which then does it via the Web Services. But this is a pain, with the user having "Activate" the feature and then "Activate
