User Steven has the Active Directory account however his profile is not yet populated into SSP User profiles.
NT Authenticated users have the access permission on "Shared Documents - Document Library".
So, will Steven be able to access the "Shared Documents"?
I guess, IIS will authenticate the user Steven to access the "Shared Documents" and SharePoint will authorize the user to View the items in "Shared Documents", is that right?
Yes, you are correct. Users can access sharepoint without a SSP profile.
I have successfully configured a SharePoint farm of 4 nodes but I got intermittent database connection failure errors. I have to restart SharePoint services and IIS to fix the database errors. Mostly these are SSPI errors but sometimes the error message just says "unable to connect to config database". In SharePoint configuration I went to "Application Management -> Check Services Enabled... Service: Office SharePoint Server Search Issue: The search service is using an account assigned to the Farm Administrators group to crawl content for Shared Services Provider SharedServices2
the user find other related documents generated in the workflow. I find that all this rapidly gets messy in trying to retrofit this different type of workflow into SharePoint. There are ways and means... to exist as the anchor and context of the workflow. What I've started thinking about is a more abstract sort of workflow and how it would be useful in SharePoint. Workflows are user driven processes... or automatic creation of an accident list item. Now the process will need to have a set of official forms filled in by various people. This is where I find SharePoint limiting me with it's document centric
My organization is in the process of converting our intranet over to a SharePoint solution. Part of this intranet will be the movement and organization of all our internal documents. Currently, we... on the intranet site. On each individual page, I have setup a Content Query Web Part that displays the documents that have the corresponding Page value set (i.e. if a document Page value has been checked for "HR... to the documents list and note on which pages they should appear on without having to manually update the pages themselves. The problem that I am having is that I cannot seem to find a good way to sort
We have a site defined in onet.xml. The site has 5 features: some standard, some custom. One of the standard ones is the team site. On activation of our feature we would link to copy files into the Shared Documents folder. Problem is that the Team Site feature is running after our feature. Is there a way to control the order?
I am trying to restrict access to items in a library based on the users nationality. We have contracts that can be viewed by certain nationalities and not by others. I hit a problem if the user has a dual nationality. My plan was to put each user in an appropriate SharePoint group (restircting who can members) and to add the group to the permission of the item. Contact 1 = Nationality 1 User 1 - Nationality 1 = Would have access. User 2 - Nationality 1 + Nationality 2 = Would not have access but does. Does anyone have any ideas if or how this is possible. Many thanks, James
is, when a user access a page for the first time in my SharePoint site which needs authentication, if there is a special URL variable in current http session called "Identity", I want to treat the user as authenticated user and using the value of the "Identity" URL variable to be the authenticated user name of SharePoint (for example, accessing my SharePoint site by URL http://mysite/default.aspx...I am using SharePoint 2007 Enterprise + Publishing portal template + Windows Server 2008. What are the best practices when it comes to building a SharePoint Extranet? Any good resources out there? One question that I am particularly looking for some thoughts on is how to best create... for a single site collection with a sub-site for each customer. Each sub-site will of course have separate permissions and navigation. They argue for one site collection in order to be able to roll-up shared content with the CQWP. But in my world a shared site collection is, security wise, just too dangerous a design. The risk that one customer by accident gets access to the sub-site of another customer
I am using SharePoint Server 2007 x64 and Windows Server 2008 x64. I have setup a site with template publishing portal. I have grant anonymous access to all the site. My question is, if I create a new page, how do I grant permission to an anonymous user to access (read permission) the page? I got confused because for the permission setting of a page, a permission is set according to a user name (e.g. read permission for user "foo" of a page). Since anonymous user does not have a related "user name", how could I grant read permission to anonymous user? BTW: I use Windows Forms authentication
Is there a way to customize the "access denied" page that users get when trying to access a page they are not allowed to access? I need this page to have the same look and feel of the site rather than switch to default SharePoint UI.
