I am using SharePoint Server 2007 x64 and Windows Server 2008 x64. I have setup a site with the publishing portal template. I have granted anonymous access to all the sites.
I have set some users to be the Approver role. Since during the document publishing workflow, SharePoint workflow needs to send email to approvers, I am wondering how to set the email address of a specific approver? And if the email I set for a specific approver is like [email protected], do I also need to set the SMTP/POP3 server of gmail (if needed, how)?
Are you synchronizing profiles with Active Directory or some other source? If so, then the email property will be controlled by those sources.
If you are not importing profiles or that property is not in those source, you will need to go into your Shared Service Provider and change the property so that it won't synchronize and be overwritten. Then you can go in and update the property for those users in the Shared Service Provider, or you can have the user do it from their profile page in their My Site.
As for emailing external to your organization, you would have to work with your mail server administrator to set up the ability for the server to relay. I have usually seen this limited to internal email addresses only for security, but you will have to work with them to ensure that you are in compliance with their security guidelines.
I am using SharePoint 2007 Server x64 on Windows Server 2008 x64. I create a new SharePoint web application with a new site collection at the root of the web application. I select the template "publishing portal" for the site collection. I have also enabled anonymous access. Now the basic function is fine, except that I do not know how to change the first front page (i.e. the page showed to end users who have not logged in yet) of the site. Here is a screen snapshot. Any ideas how to edit this page? Publishing home page http://i33.tinypic.com/2hex08j.png BTW: I have tried to edit
I am using SharePoint Server 2007 x64 and Windows Server 2008 x64. I have setup a site with template publishing portal. I have grant anonymous access to all the site. I want to design a two layered navigation solution for the site. And I want to know if there is any advice or document for me to follow-up in order to setup the navigation solution. In more details, my requirement is: In the top... navigation area, for example, if computer is selected, I want to display sub-category on left navigation area, like laptop/server/netbook when user clicks a sub-category on the left navigation area, I want
sorry if this is a noob question, but I have to start somewhere! I'm working with Sharepoint 2007. I have a custom content type, Room Booking Event. When one is created, I want to start a workflow where the following happens: Using email, I want to send the details of the room booking (fields in the list), to an approver Ideally, I want the approver to be able to approve the booking right... around Sharepoint Designer 2007, but I can't figure out how to email an InfoPath form with the event details and an 'apprve/reject' button. Grateful for any advice. Thanks!
I am using SharePoint Server 2007 x64 and Windows Server 2008 x64. I have setup a site with the publishing portal template. I have granted anonymous access to the entire site. When updating/checking-in a page, an approval notification email is sent in order to complete the page publishing approval process. Is there any setting to skip sending outgoing email for this approval process? Sending the email is an excessive step for my department.
or automatic creation of an accident list item. Now the process will need to have a set of official forms filled in by various people. This is where I find SharePoint limiting me with it's document centric...SharePoint workflow by nature is document centric in that you have to have a 'thing'; A object for the workflow to run on. This object can be a document, form or simple list item but this thing has to exist as the anchor and context of the workflow. What I've started thinking about is a more abstract sort of workflow and how it would be useful in SharePoint. Workflows are user driven processes
I am using SharePoint 2007 + Windows Server 2008 with SharePoint 2007's publishing portal template. I am using List Web Part with Data Sheet view. I want to know how to make a column as a URL link (i.e. show text in the cell, and can associate a link with the text in each row for the specific column), i.e. when user clicks the text in the specific column of a specific row, the user will be directed to the link associated the text.
Within my workflow I am using the 'Collect Data from user'. I want to send a custom email (by turning of alerts on the Task list) and using the Send Email action. My problem is I want to send a link with the task to approve in an email to the user the task has been assigned to (approver). But the action ''Collect Data from user' pauses until the task is edited which won't happen because I haven't sent the details to the approver via an email! Is there any way to get around this? Or get a reference from a newly created task back to item that created it from the 'Collect Data from user
I am using SharePoint Server 2007 x64 and Windows Server 2008 x64. I have setup a site with template publishing portal. I have grant anonymous access to all the site. My question is, if I create a new page, how do I grant permission to an anonymous user to access (read permission) the page? I got confused because for the permission setting of a page, a permission is set according to a user name (e.g. read permission for user "foo" of a page). Since anonymous user does not have a related "user name", how could I grant read permission to anonymous user? BTW: I use Windows Forms authentication
Here is my code. SPUser approver = mySite.EnsureUser(approverId); var selectedItems = listItems.Cast<SPListItem>().Where(p => p.Fields["WF_Approver"] == approver); my list items field "WF_Approver" is field type of person or group. my approver is type of SPUser. So how can i check the equation here between SPField and SPUser ? btw p.Fields["WF_Approver"].ToString()==approver.loginname didn't work either. Thanks
