Sorry if I'm getting the terminology wrong, I'm very new to sharepoint. Basically, a site I'm working on uses sharepoint for some versioning stuff in the background. I would like to be able to take the "schema" from production and have developers able to use it locally for their own development and testing.
I don't need all the files contained within. I'm just looking for a way to easily copy the site structure and document library structure to another machine. Is that possible/easily doable?

You can easily save the site as a template by going to Site Actions, Site Settings. I think its under Site Administration there should be an option that says "Save Site As Template". Make sure you do not check the "Include Content" checkbox. This this will give you the current configuration for the site and any lists/libraries including their views.
Simple answer, Sharepoint Content Deployment Wizard (http://spdeploymentwizard.codeplex.com/). Allows you to export sites, & libraries, and be specific about what content you need to export.
This is one of those don't leave home without it type tools.
In addition to the GUI this will also allow you to do scripted content deployment with stsadm.

So perhaps copy these completed documents into separate libraries but then some link will need to exist back to help the user find other related documents generated in the workflow. I'm a SharePoint development beginner and I would like to develop a custom application on top of SharePoint Foundation 2010. I decided to write few visual web parts for simple logic and Silverlight... SharePoint and access my application from there. Within my application (and DB), all these users will be hierarchically related (I don't know if this is easily possible in Active Directory so that I could... parts are not used in other SharePoint sites as well? It would probably break the application and it could, of course, make it possible to replicate the same application but using different users. I
Does anyone know of a good solution for allowing a non-technical user to easily organise the content within a SharePoint publishing site? I'm thinking of content that is organised into sections, subsections, and then finally pages. A non-technical user should be able to simply see a map of all the sections, subsections and pages and easily organise that content: e.g. to change the order... section to the Home section, or they want the Product B section to come before the Product A section. I guess what I'm asking for is a drag'n'drop site map, or something along those lines.

I am trying to iterate over a List and view properties on some items that live within that list, and down one or two levels; this is on a SharePoint 2010 server. So far I have been able to connect to the site and iterate over the Folders and the Items in the top level, but what I want is to be able to iterate over items within the Folders. Out structure is as follows: site - http://localhost/my_site list - Pages Folder - News ItemB - Article ItemA - Contents The site is easy enough to connect to, with that I can get the list, Folder and ItemA's and output them so I can see
We have created a document library template to facilitate the rapid deployment of multiple document libraries with identical structure. The template has been created within the same site and the same collection as where it will be deployed, but when we try to deploy it we get an error stating "The language is not supported on the server". I don't understand why the template wouldn't match the language of the site it was created in. Can anyone point me in the right direction here? Unfortunately I'm limited in a corporate environment, so I can't access the central admin or remote into the farm.
Here's the scenario: 2 document libraries Both contain multiple documents The documents have multiple versions When I copy a document from library A to Library B using the Content and Structure tool from Site Settings, my versions do not carry over. I'm trying to merge the two document libraries into one, but I want to retain the versions. Do you know of a way to complete this without third party tools or custom code? I've heard suggestions of using Explorer View copy and paste, SharePoint Designer and List Templates, but I'm not sure any of those will carry version info. Update
I'm trying to sync a SharePoint calendar with an Outlook calendar. SharePoint has the connect to Outlook option and all. I did that, I was also able to copy all the events from Outlook into SharePoint fine. I can add events to the SharePoint calendar through Outlook, but when I add a new event on the Outlook Calendar it doesn't get added to the SharePoint calendar. Meaning the user has to enter it in two places if s/he wants to keep them both up to date. It's important for my users that they don't have to do this. Is there anyway to make SharePoint fetch the events from Outlook automatically
