I have an initial workflow in Sharepoint Designer that triggers whenever an item is created and also whenever an item has changed in the 'Employee' list .
Within second workflow I am updating the 'Employee' list and the workflow above is triggered.
Is there any way I can check in the intial workflow if the item has been updated by a user or if it was updated by a workflow. In the case if the item was updated by a workflow I would not want to trgigger it.
You can create a (hidden) field in the list, which value is updated by one of the workflows. You can then check in the other workflow if it has been set or not.
Make sure you reset the values in this column if the workflow runs a seconds time.
SharePoint workflow by nature is document centric in that you have to have a 'thing'; A object for the workflow to run on. This object can be a document, form or simple list item but this thing has... or automatic creation of an accident list item. Now the process will need to have a set of official forms filled in by various people. This is where I find SharePoint limiting me with it's document centric... the user find other related documents generated in the workflow. I find that all this rapidly gets messy in trying to retrofit this different type of workflow into SharePoint. There are ways and means
I have the requirement to make a workflow fire when a task is modified and after it has been completed. After the task has been completed, I am trying to set it back to an uncompleted status. From another work flow I update the task 'status' from 'completed' to 'not started'. The status gets updated but after the task is completed the second time the status is not updated from 'not started' to 'completed'. The reason seems to be because i am unable to update the task's 'outcome' column from 'completed' to '' (blank). Is there a way to update this field non programatically? Specifically
/. I have contradictory observations: When John adds an item to the library while working from W2, the workflow is initiated but goes to Stopped status, and the other list is not updated. When John...Using WSS 3.0 running on SBS2008. I have an Infopath form library, to which I have used SharePoint Designer 2007 to attach a custom workflow. It's a pretty normal workflow which updates a property in another list based on a lookup. I have two users, call them Jane and John. Jane is a member of several SP groups, one of which has Full Control permissions. John is a member of a couple of SP groups
I have a requirement to design a multi level approval workflow using SPD 2007. The workflow has three levels of approval. If the 1st or 2nd or 3rd level of approvers rejects the task it should go back to the previous level of user to continue with the same workflow instance. The workflow should not stop since when the InfoPath form is updated in the Forms library, a new WF instance will be created if there is no active task on that workflow. Has anyone worked on a similar requirement? If yes, please let me know. Also, let me know if it is possible to move back and forth between workflow
We have a customer that will be creating many sites based on a site definition. The sites include a list. We would like to connect a workflow to that list such that the workflow starts whenever a new item is added to the list. We are using SharePoint Foundation 2010 and developing the workflow with Visual Studio 2010. What is the best way of doing this?
I have an InfoPath form that starts a workflow (on item created). The business requirement is that after submission form must be read-only (no changes to the initial request can be made). However workflow must change certain properties of the form (e.g. approval time, approval phase etc.). By default SharePoint workflows run under initiator account, however I am wondering would you recommend creating an event handler that is going to kick start a workflow under system account. Workflow would than be able to revoke all the contribute privileges but still be able to update the form during
Maybe someone can help me debug this I've created a simple sequential workflow in VS2008 on server 2003(64 bit) and wspbuilder workflow feature tempalte. When I trigger the workflow manually it works fine everytime. However when I set the workflow to trigger on new item created it gets stuck in the 'Starting' status. Things I've checked: i) Workflow History list is not updated ii) Timer Service is running. iii) The site has an SSP iv) Breakpoints are not hit when the w3wp process is attached. Help any ideas ?? At this stage I've stripped the workflow down to just posting
Within my workflow using SPD I am using the "Create New Item" action to create a new Task list item this is fired when a holidayrequest item is created. My problem is I cannot see how to create/store a link back to the orignial holiday request item that created the task, so I can display this in the Task's edit form.
I am trying to create a workflow on SharePoint 2007 that should go like so: User adds a new item in the "Faults" list. When creating it, he ticks the boxes for whatever departments needs to address... of departments is not possible since they can't be expected to know the appointed representatives of every department. I can create a task through the "Create List Item" action, but the workflow is marked... is finished. The problem: if I create a workflow in SharePoint Designer 2007 and create multiple steps checking to see "if X department was ticked then assign task to user", it will wait until
