SharePoint provides an option in Create New WebApplication page that says Restart IIS Automatically. This restarts IIS on all servers of the farm.
What can I do to trigger this programmatically from my Application Page (ASP.NET)?
Is there a timer job for this? Is there anything in the API? do I have to create "iisreset" process and pass it the name of servers?
When I go to manage service applications in Central Administration and try to create a new service application like: New > Create a new service application, the link isn't active. My issue is I would like to create a Search Service Application after installing Search Server Express 2010. Do I need to run the Farm Configuration Wizard and install the below if I can create a Search Service... the possibility to create a new search service apps? The only new link i can see on the service application page menu is to create BDC service. alt text http://www.freeimagehosting.net
is running no each server. Under the link "Servers in Farm": mail server Windows SharePoint Services Outgoing E-Mail WFE1 Incoming Mail, Windows SharePoint Services Web Application WFE2...I have successfully configured a SharePoint farm of 4 nodes but I got intermittent database connection failure errors. I have to restart SharePoint services and IIS to fix the database errors. Mostly these are SSPI errors but sometimes the error message just says "unable to connect to config database". In SharePoint configuration I went to "Application Management -> Check Services Enabled
We recently made a copy of a Site collection to a new load balanced frontend server. the FARM is now running on IIS 7 and on a Office Server 2008 environment with SharePoint 2007. All security... on the dashboard and landing page. These Images along with all other content had libraries with permissions correctly setup. we are using s a F5 device to do the loadbalancing since we are running the servers virtually. Has someone came upon a similar behaviour in their Windows Server 2008 IIS 7 environment? Thanks for any help.
When attempting to enable search query logging from the Shared Services Provider of my SharePoint 2007 farm, IIS returns the HTTP 403 error page. My account has full-control rights at the farm and site-collection levels.
I'm prototyping the best way to dynamically connect web parts at runtime. Essentailly, the application will allow for several disparate application groups to create web parts that will be consumed within the SharePoint front end. All of the web parts will need to automatically detect consumers and providers to create connections at runtime. What we are looking to do is have webparts discover and automatically connect to other compatible webparts. When a user adds the two compatible parts to a page, the parts should be able create the appropriate connections. We have a well defined
I have run into a problem several times now where I have developed a custom timer job, and I want my site collection administrators to manage the schedule of this job with a custom application page... that the App pool user for your content web application does not have write access to the Config database, you can't create new TimerJobDefinitions from code that runs in your content web app. A bad... I can think of is to have another timerjob that polls some kind of queue (for example a sharepoint list in my site collection) for new timerjobs to create, and creates it if an item has been added

The idea is to create a SilverLight 3 Application (not a web part) that will be used inside SharePoint 2007 (not a web part but a full aspx page that will be called from a Sharepoint feature), for example, a silverlight application that lists all documents of a SharePoint document Library, and when double-clicking an item it will display it. How do I use the SharePoint object model (spsite, spweb, splist etc...) inside this SL app? Is it not possible?
